Richard is a Fellowship Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants, England and Wales. He is Malaysian with almost 30 years international experience working abroad in a diverse and eclectic range of roles that include business troubleshooting, restructuring and management with wide exposure and hands‐on experience in M&A and corporate turnaround.
He started as Finance Director in Saudi Arabia with Hall Engineering PLC, a UK Shrewsbury based specialty steel and wire products company eventually rising to become the CEO of overseas operations of the group following the successful restructuring and turnaround of its African operations. While in this role he was based in Singapore and was responsible for overseeing joint ventures with MNEs such as BHP and Press Corporation amongst other partners operating in Asia, Middle‐East and Africa while also expanding the groups’ operations into China and Vietnam. While under his stewardship, the groups’ 14 international companies across 11 countries achieved record profits and was eventually positioned for listing on the Singapore Exchange (SGX) as BRC Asia.
In the last 10 years he was based in Thailand as CEO of Enodis PLCs’ Asian operations specializing in refrigeration and food service equipment. He also spent 3 years in M&A and corporate finance at Yorkshire Capital, a HK based boutique investment bank and financial services firm as the Country Head for SE Asia, specializing in the listing of Chinese‐based companies on the NYSE and Nasdaq.
He was further responsible for the Mandalay river redevelopment infrastructure project in Myanmar as CEO of KYY Myanmar Ltd. Richard returned to Malaysia in 2007 and set up his own management consultancy that has been involved in various joint ventures in the construction and renewable‐energy sectors in Malaysia, Fiji and Sri Lanka.
He is currently Chief Executive Officer, a co‐founder and part owner of SurfaceTech, the licensed manufacturer and the exclusive distributor of RBT products in over 40 approved territories.
